Kuwait Ministry of Health is ready to strengthen indigenization in the health sector. As part of this, local media reported that many measures will be taken including reducing the recruitment of doctors from abroad.
According to current statistics, more than half of the total employees of the Ministry of Health are foreigners.
Six thousand foreign doctors and four thousand Kuwaiti doctors are working in government hospitals and clinics. 3500 expatriate doctors and 500 Kuwaiti doctors are working in the private health sector.
Meanwhile, not getting qualified candidates from natives is causing the rate of indigenization to decrease.
The officials said that efforts are being made to train and nurture the natives in a phased manner and that the nativeization will be accelerated in the coming years.
