Life is Strange : Remastered Collection

What better way to start our list of upcoming indie games than with a remaster of an Interactive Drama inspired by indie cinema? With its interesting characters, its way of being filmed or its music, Life is Strange has sometimes been considered to be the “Junovideo game. Containing both Life Is Strange and Life Is Strange: Before the Storm, this collection features 4K graphics (on configurations that allow it), redesigned facial animations, and revised and corrected lighting effects. What to (re)live these adventures like no other imagined by Dontnod and Deck Nine in the best of conditions.

Dyna Bomb

Do you like 2D arcade platform games? So Dyna Bomb may be for you. Already released on PC, Switch and PlayStation 4, it arrives this week on Microsoft consoles. Equipped with his jet pack, the hero goes in search of precious stones in colorful tables. The 7 Raven Studios title contains 64 levels across 8 different worlds. Yes, the gameplay is classic and the graphics might have been more shimmering, but Dyna Bomb offers a challenge that might interest fans of the genre.

The Waylanders

Drawing inspiration from classic cRPG licenses like Baldur’s Gate, The Waylanders makes the player travel between different types of universes, Celtic and medieval. Written by Emily Grace Buck (various Telltale games) and featuring a soundtrack produced by Inon Zur (Fallout), the software offers real-time battles with active pause. Five races, six basic classes and thirty advanced classes will allow the player to customize his hero as he wishes. A romance system is also included to make the epic more thrilling. Finally, The Waylanders has several endings depending on the decisions made during the adventure.

Webbed

Released at the end of last year on PC, Webbed will weave its web on Switch and Xbox at the very beginning of February. This platform/action game puts you in the shoes of a little spider whose mission is to save his better half from a strange bird. The particularity of Webbed is to allow the player to have fun with the art of weaving. Indeed, to move forward, you will have to swing but also create structures thanks to your spider’s web. As you will have understood, the movements are therefore as original as they are fun, especially since the physics engine keeps its promises. Cute and well designed, the software from Sbug Games is worth a look.

The Sealed Ampoule

Attention, video game UFO. Released last year on PC, The Sealed Ampoule is an RPG containing elements of Dungeon Crawler, roguelike and farming. By exploring the depths of a dungeon she has just acquired, the young alchemist who is called Irene will gradually transform the dungeon into an abundant and profitable farm. The game phases alternate between exploration, combat, collection, crafting and cultivation. Each player can develop their own style of play depending on how they manage and combine their different skills. Croc’s World Construction Kit 2

Croc is back! Well, not the Croc you’re thinking of. Game creation games being quite rare, it is normal that we put them when one of its representatives arrives. Croc’s World Construction Kit 2 is the new version of an old title released on PC in 2016. Like Mario Maker, the software has a whole host of tools to create your own 2D platform game. Dying Light 2 : Stay Human

To end this selection of indie games of the week, we invoke Dying Light 2 : Stay Human, whose technique seems so good that one would swear an AAA commissioned by a big publisher. Developed by Techland, Dying Light 2 is an Action-RPG sprinkled with Survival-Horror in which the player must survive in a zombie-infested environment. Civilization as we know it is ancient history, and now humanity must fight – or use diplomacy – to try to keep its head above water. Dying Light 2 promises to take player choices into account to change the state of the city in real time. With a vast open world, a day-night cycle and a coop mode for up to four players, it is one of the apps to watch at the start of the year.
