They were both to be edified on their fate this Thursday by the Indictment Chamber of the Dakar Court of Appeal. They are Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Pape Abdoulaye Touré.

After two rejections of requests for provisional release, the secretary general and number 2 of the former Pastef and his lawyers have just registered a 3rd refusal of provisional release. Same case for Pape Abdoulaye Touré who was also arrested in the context of the events of last June with the ransacking at the University of Dakar. The latter was prosecuted for acts or maneuvers likely to compromise public security, participation in an insurrectionary movement and various actions.

As a reminder, Bassirou Diomaye Faye had been charged and placed under a warrant of committal on April 18 for “acts likely to compromise public peace”, “contempt of court” and “defamation” against a constituted body.
