Dr. Hossam Mowafi, Professor of Critical Cases at Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine, revealed a common myth among many people regarding vitamin supplements.

Mowafi said during his program “My Lord, Increase Me in Knowledge”, broadcast on Sada Al-Balad channel, that supplemental vitamins do not help in the treatment or prevention of diseases, as many believe.

The professor of critical care medicine added that vitamins are prescribed by the doctor to the patient, if he suffers from a deficiency in one of them in the body, to compensate for this decrease and overcome the symptoms associated with it.

He explained that there are vitamins whose levels should be wary of low levels in the body, such as vitamin B12, vitamin B6, vitamin B1, vitamin D and vitamin C.
