Aishwari Pratap Singh Tomar was a second class student when shooting star Abhinav Bindra won a historic gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Isha Singh was 3 years old. Both of them who have become India’s front runners by winning 4 medals each in shooting at the Asian Games held more than 15 years ago had only one name – Abhinav Bindra. It was India’s first Olympic gold medal champion who inspired them to enter the field of shooting.

From a single name to an Olympic medal, the shooting range continues to bring pride to India at the Asian Games. With 2 more golds and 3 silvers won yesterday, India’s shooting medal tally in Hangzhou has reached 18. The shooting team, which broke the record of 14 medals at the 2006 Games, still has a few more matches to go in this Asian Games.
