Mumbai: Former pacer Venkatesh Prasad attacked the Indian cricket team following losing the second ODI once morest West Indies. Venkatesh quipped that India are the only average team in the other two formats apart from Test cricket. The criticism of the former star has pointed out the miserable failures in the last two Twenty20 World Cups and giving up the ODI series.

“Apart from Test cricket, India have been a mediocre team for some time now in both formats. The recent series once morest Bangladesh, South Africa and Aussies are proof of this. Has performed poorly in the last two T20 World Cups as well. We are not a team as exciting as England or as dangerous as the Aussies. Despite the money and power, we are far from a champion team. All teams play to win. But the approach and attitude of the Indian team has been the reason for this poor performance for some time,” tweeted Venkatesh Prasad.

Despite the money and power, we have become used to celebrating mediocrity and are far from how champion sides are. Every team plays to win and so does India but their approach and attitude is also a factor for underperformance over a period of time.

Team India lost by six wickets in the second ODI once morest West Indies. India managed to score just 181 runs in 40.5 overs in a match that rested captain Rohit Sharma and run machine Virat Kohli. In reply, West Indies overcame the target with the loss of four wickets in 36.4 overs. The Indian team has been heavily criticized for losing to the West Indies for the first time since 2019. Critics argue that India should have easily won once morest the weak West Indies, who would not have qualified for the World Cup even if Kohli and Rohit were rested.

The Indian cricket team has been performing poorly in the last few years. India might not play the final in the 2019 ODI World Cup. In the World Test Championship, they lost miserably in two consecutive finals and have performed poorly in the last two Twenty20 World Cups. Even in the Asia Cup, the Indian team has lost the upper hand.
