New Jersey-based company Triton Electric Vehicle (LLC) has developed a new type of engine that uses hydrogen to run, following successful experiments with hydrogen-powered cars and heavy trucks, electric car manufacturers are following suit. According to global media, the American company Triton EV has launched an advanced hydrogen internal combustion engine (ICE). The vehicle association will use hydrogen, which is a cheap and environmentally friendly fuel and emits only water vapor unlike the numerous pollutants emitted by conventional gasoline engines.

Triton is an American company but its research and development department is largely in India and this engine is manufactured there.

According to Triton EV founder and managing director Himanshu Patel, the new engine is designed to use hydrogen as efficiently as possible without wasting energy. This means that the engine is better at converting hydrogen into power than conventional gasoline engines, leading to greater fuel economy and a significant reduction in operational costs to run.

The new hydrogen-powered engine could be a strong competitor to electric vehicles like Tesla because electric vehicles cannot go far without recharging and electric vehicles take a long time to recharge.

Hydrogen powered vehicles do not have these problems. They can be filled with a hydrogen fuel cell as fast as gasoline cars, which is also environmentally friendly and can drive for long distances. Also, heavy-duty or long-haul heavy-duty vehicles with a hydrogen engine will be much more efficient than electric vehicles. Of course, hydrogen-powered vehicles can gain an edge in the competitive electric vehicle market.

Triton EV isn’t just building hydrogen-powered cars, it’s also building large trucks. These trucks, manufactured in the Indian city of Gujarat, have both hydrogen fuel cells and electric motors.
