Sri Lanka set a target of 117 runs against India in the Asian Games final. After winning the toss and choosing to bat, India could only score 116 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Sri Lanka held back India with a strong batting line-up including Harmeenpreet Kaur with some clever bowling. India’s top scorer was Smriti Mandana who scored 46 runs. Jamima Rodriguez scored 42 runs. All the bowlers were brilliant for Sri Lanka.

Shafali Verma (9) was lost early but Smriti and Jamima’s 73-run partnership for the second wicket brought India back into the game. However, Sri Lanka’s accurate bowling affected India’s scoring rate. Mandana came back trying to increase the runs. Then India quickly lost Richa Ghosh (9), Harmanpreet Kaur (2) and Pooja Vastrakar (2). Jamima (42) is also out in the last over. With this, India could not even cross 120.
