Center Myles Turner signed a $60 million, two-year contract extension with the Indiana Pacers on Saturday, ESPN reported.
The deal includes renegotiating an additional $17.1 million in salary for the 2022-23 season, his agent Austin Brown of CAA Sports revealed.
Turner has played 42 games this season, averaging 17.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, shooting 54.4% from the field, 39.1% 3-pointers, 76.2% free throws and a 19.9 PER.
The center has been in the sights of the Los Angeles Lakers this season following the injury to Anthony Davis, but both organizations have not been able to reach an agreement.
Turner is a two-time NBA blocking champion and is averaging 2.4 blocks per game this season. The player has spent his entire league career with the Pacers, who are now tying him up for a couple of years with a deal that will give him $20 million a year.
Plus, Turner is considered one of the best centers in the NBA right now, and the Pacers are bound to have tempting offers to get rid of his new deal, which guarantees him an elite salary wherever he goes in the future.
