The iconic hat worn by Harrison Ford in the second Indiana Jones film sold for US$630 thousand or around Rp9.9 billion at auction.

The brown fedora hat, which was specially made for the film Temple of Doom, was sold at auction in Los Angeles, Thursday (15/8).

Other items sold at the auction included memorabilia from Star Wars, Harry Pitter and James Bond films.

Jones, who is described as an archaeologist, is seen wearing the hat early in the film when he and his colleagues jump from a crashing plane onto a rubber boat.

In the scene, Jones is on the plane with singer Wilhelmina Scott, played by Kate Capshaw and 12-year-old boy Short Round, played by Ke Huy Quan, on the run from a Chinese criminal gang.

After the plane they were on was sabotaged by its pilot, the three used the rubber boat to jump from the plane and plummet down the side of a mountain.

The auction house said the hat was also used in a number of photos taken at George Licas’ special effects facility.

The hat is part of Ford’s stuntman Dean Ferrandini’s personal collection. (bbc/Z-1)
