++ News from 03/27/2023: How Variety reports, Indy is following in big footsteps this year. Like last year Top Gun – Maverickbecomes Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny next May on the Cannes Film Festival celebrate its premiere. There is no exact date for the screening, but it might be May 17th or 18th, which would be the second or third day of the festival.
That may sound like a good omen. But let’s not forget that too Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull once celebrated its premiere in Cannes. Nevertheless, we should remain positive. The fact that such a big film is presented to an audience more than a month before its actual theatrical release in this day and age speaks for trust in the film.

Especially since many press representatives from all over the world will be represented in Cannes. Should Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny turned out to be a flop, it will be in the media worldwide just a few hours following the premiere. So definitely a risk Disney enters here. So let’s hope that the response will be positive and that great reviews will only make the waiting time all the more difficult for us.
In any case, this premiere should ensure a decent line-up of stars on site. Although it is not yet known who will be there, one can certainly hope for the cast and the director James Mangold and possibly even the two executive producers Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.
Not much is known regarding the content. Next to Harrison Ford are also Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, John Rhys-Davies, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson and Antonio Banderas in the movie. The German cinema release of Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny is by 29. June.
