Colombo> Indian women started the three-match ODI cricket series with Sri Lanka with a win. The win is by four wickets. Batting first, Lanka were bowled out for 171. In reply, India set the target with 72 balls to spare. All-rounder Deepti Sharma who scored three wickets and 22 runs was the star of the game. Score: Lanka 171 (48.2) India 6–-176 (38).
Lanka won the toss and elected to bat. However, it might not live up to the expectations. Apart from Deepti, pacer Renuka Singh also crushed Lanka by taking three wickets. Nilakshi de Silva (43) is the top scorer. India didn’t get off to a good start in reply either. Harmanpreet Kaur (44), who took over the captaincy from Mithali Raj, who finished the game, laid the foundation for India’s victory.
