Indian women are feeling embarrassed regarding their natural features, that’s why the trend of “breast reduction surgery” is gaining momentum in India.
Dr. Amit Gupta, plastic surgeon at Divine Aesthetics Surgery in New Delhi, says that in the last five years, there has been a 100 percent annual increase in breast surgery performed by women for a more feminine look.
This assessment was further supported by Dr. Akansha Goyal and Dr. Sidhanshu Punia, who are specialists in breast reduction surgery in New Delhi.

“Earlier we used to do one surgery every month, but now we do at least one surgery a week, and handle regarding four to six cases every month,” says Dr Punia.
Dr. Gupta also observed that the number of “young girls” undergoing the surgery is high.
“After surgeries, I have seen patients cry following seeing the results,” he said. It is as if a heavy weight has been lifted from his chest’.
Apart from this, experts also blame social media for the painful process of quotas, according to them, social media appears to be an important factor in shaping these trends. Experts agree that social media has played a major role in popularizing certain trends, especially in India.

For example, Dr. Goyal explains that with the rise of social media, my patients saw others undergoing similar procedures and decided to have them themselves.
Apart from this, women also face abuse and body shaming due to their presence on social media where their physical features are targeted through various comments.

Although experts say that there is very little chance of any side effects from these surgeries, there are some side effects that can be experienced.
As some scars are left behind following surgery which may seem disfiguring, these may diminish over time but do not disappear.
