First medal in athletics
Chengdu (China): Indian team collected medals in World University Games Shooting. So far, Indian players have won 14 medals, including eight gold. This includes four silver and two bronze medals. India’s XI team of Valarivan and Divyansh Singh Panwar won silver in the 10m air rifle mixed team event on Wednesday. The final match was once morest the hosts China. The bronze went to the US in the event. 20 Indian shooting athletes were sent to China for the World University Games. 18 of them have medals.
India bagged a bronze on the first day of athletics. Bhavani Yadav Bhagwati won the medal in long jump (6.32m). Poland’s Nikola Horoska (6.60) won the gold and Magdalena Bokun (6.41) won the silver. Athletics, swimming, tae kwon do, table tennis and volleyball competitions will be held on Thursday.
