Indian Prime Minister asks Zelensky for a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine – Jornal OPaís

In a telephone conversation, this Wednesday (20), with Vladimir Zelensky, president of Ukraine, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, defended a peaceful solution to the conflict in the country.

Despite accumulating defeats and military losses in recent months, the Zelensky regime insists on not starting peace talks in the region.

“The Prime Minister reiterated India’s people-centric approach and advocated dialogue and diplomacy as a way forward.

He emphasized that India supports all efforts for a quick and peaceful resolution of all issues between the countries,” the press service of the head of Indian government reported.

Furthermore, Narendra Modi added that India, Russia’s BRICS partner, will do “everything in its power” to support a peaceful solution to the conflict.

The special military operation was announced in February 2022 and its main objectives are the “demilitarization and denazification” of the neighboring country, which in recent decades has seen the growth of extremist movements.

Modi and Zelensky also discussed ways to further strengthen the partnership between India and Ukraine in various fields and agreed to remain in touch, the press service said.

China also announces efforts for peace The North American publication Politico reported, last Monday (18), that China is trying to convince Europe that Russia should be present in the peace negotiations in Ukraine. Otherwise, according to sources heard by the media, Beijing will boycott the meetings.

“China is trying to convince Europe to allow Russia a seat at the table for future peace talks, potentially in Switzerland — or Beijing will boycott such meetings,” Politico said.

The message would have been conveyed clearly during Chinese special representative for Eurasian affairs Li Hui’s European trip, the sources said.
