The federation had earlier announced a 22-member team including key players. But when the ISL clubs announced that they would not release the players, there were reports that the main players including Chhetri would not be in the team.

Chhetri was included in the team, but goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, defender Sandesh Jinkan and others were not in the team. Malayalee players KP Rahul and Abdul Rabih are in the team.
