Indian fashion world mourns designer Rohit Bal

This was confirmed by the chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), Sunil Sethi, to the Indian news agencies PTI and ANI. “We are trying to work out the details for the cremation on Saturday,” he told PTI. Bal was one of the co-founders of the association.

The association mourns the loss of the legendary designer, FDCI wrote on social media. Bal was known for his “unique blend of traditional patterns with modern sensibilities.” He redefined Indian fashion. According to Indian broadcaster NDTV, Bal made his last fashion show appearance in October.

Bal, also known as Gudda by his friends, was considered an icon of the Indian fashion world. Many of his customers came from the domestic entertainment industry, but according to reports in “The Business of Fashion” magazine, he also designed clothes for international film stars such as Uma Thurman and Cindy Crawford. He has received several awards in his homeland.
