An advanced light helicopter of the Indian Coast Guard crashed while attempting an emergency landing in the Arabian Sea while participating in a rescue operation.
According to Indian media, the Indian Coast Guard helicopter had reached the sea about 45 km away from Porbandar to rescue a sick crew member on board a boat due to a medical emergency.
During the rescue operation, the Indian Coast Guard helicopter had to make an emergency landing in the Arabian Sea, however, it crashed and sank into the sea.
Rescue operation is going on to search for the three officials who went missing in the accident. Four ships and two planes are participating in the rescue operation.
The Navy has found the wreckage of the helicopter. But the cause of the helicopter crash could not be determined yet.
An inquiry committee has been constituted for the investigation. Bad weather is believed to be a factor in the accident.
