India A filmmaker from Pune in the western state of Maharashtra used a crossword puzzle published in the Indian Express newspaper to ask his friend. Wedding is offered.

He told the newspaper: ‘I wanted the show to be something that was part of our everyday lives. I also wanted it to be in a quiet setting, rather than somewhere ordinary and as the Indian Express crossword is something we have done together many times, it will be a very pleasant surprise.’
The woman said she was ‘surprised by the whole incident’.
The couple, who are in a long-distance relationship, regularly do crosswords together on WhatsApp, which gave the man the idea to include it in his offer.

Ananth Goenka, executive director of the paper, shared the story on his social media, writing: ‘Girlfriend, a puzzle-loving historian, can’t go a day without doing Express crosswords with her morning tea. was The boyfriend emailed the Express puzzle team to ask for our help adding ‘Merry Me’ to his mini crossword.’
On the day of the presentation, the Fourth of July, the man recalled that his girlfriend was trying to decipher some clues.

The two crossword enthusiasts spent the next few minutes solving the remainder of the crossword together, calling it one of their ‘slowest attempts’, finishing in 12 minutes and 57 seconds.
The story was well received on the Internet, with many praising the editor of the newspaper and puzzle for pursuing the idea, and many joking that it would make them want to start reading the newspaper and do the crossword puzzle. Solving is encouraged.
