Washington: The major infrastructure project announced at the G-20 summit in Delhi after the terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel may also be a factor. President Joe Biden. Biden made his comments at a press conference held in Washington along with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who was on a visit to the US.

The India-West Asia-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC) was announced at the G-20 summit in September. The project, which aims to connect the India-West Asia-Europe region completely through a railway network, was launched for the first time this year. Biden said he believed it was a reason for Hamas’s attack on Israel, but he had no evidence to confirm it.

Progress in unification between different regions may sometimes be the reason for Hamas’s attacks. But Biden added that important planning or integration activities cannot be abandoned in the context of the attack. Biden said that economic and political cooperation between West Asian countries will accelerate development in all ways and that more cooperation between these countries is needed.

The Economic Corridor (AMEEC) was jointly announced in September by the heads of state of the US, India, Saudi Arabia, UAE, France, Germany, Italy and the European Union. IMEC is seen by many as an alternative to China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

The Economic Corridor includes the Eastern Corridor connecting India with the Gulf region and the Northern Corridor connecting the Gulf region with Europe. This is the second time in a week that Biden has suggested that this economic corridor could be behind Hamas’s attack on Israel.
