Port of Spain: The Twenty20 cricket series between India and West Indies will begin today. The third ODI was played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy Stadium in Taroba, starting at 8 pm Indian time.

India’s 200th Twenty20 match is being played today. Pakistan (223) have played more T20Is than India. Fans are hoping to see the fireworks of Suryakumar, who has a strike rate of 175.76 in Twenty20. Suryak also has the highest strike rate among those who have faced at least 250 balls in T20Is. West Indies’ Jason Holder is on the brink of a record. The player is preparing to become the second Windies player to take the most wickets in Twenty20. If Holder dismisses two men today, the wicket tally will be 55. Holder will overtake Samuel Badri (54). Dwayne Bravo who took 78 wickets is the first. So far one Twenty20 match has been held at the stadium.

It was between India and Windies. India won the match by 68 runs on July 29, 2022. Batting first, India scored 190 runs for six wickets. In reply, Windies managed to score 122 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Captain and opener Rohit Sharma (64 off 44 balls with two sixes and seven fours) and Dinesh Karthik (41 not out with two sixes and four fours off 19 balls).

Batters and bowlers are equally supported on the Taroba pitch. A good fight is expected as the weather is also favourable. If the pitch is similar in the third ODI, India may play one spinner more. Ishan Kishan or Sanju Samson will be tossed for the role of wicket keeper. Pacer Mukesh Kumar, who debuted in Tests and ODIs, is sure to play his first match in Twenty20 today.

Probable Team: India – Shubman Gill, Yashaswi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan/Sanju Samson, Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya (captain), Suryakumar Yadav, Akshar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal/Ravi Bishnoi, Umran Malik/Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar.

This is the first time the West Indies team is playing Twenty20 under Darren Sammy. It is indicated that there will be multiple changes from the team that played in the series once morest South Africa. ODI captain Shai Hope and Johnson Charles will compete for the wicketkeeper’s role. The return of Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hitmir will strengthen the Windies batting.

Probable Squad: West Indies – Brandon King, Kyle Myers, Johnson Charles/Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hitmir, Rovman Powell (captain), Roston Chass, Jason Holder, Romario Sheppard/Odean Smith, Aqeel Hossain, Alzari Joseph/ Oshane Thomas.

For Rovman Powell, the Twenty20 series is a trial by fire. Powell was dropped from the two matches in the ODI series and Casey Carty was played. Powell’s ability to counter spinners is what sets him apart from other West Indies batsmen. Despite failing to qualify for the ODI World Cup, West Indies are on their way to winning the Twenty20 World Cup.
