Bengaluru: India won the T20 series once morest Aussies and won the last match as well. India defeated Aussies by six runs in a thrilling final over at the Chinnaswamy Stadium yesterday. With this, India won four of the five-match series. But in the last over of the match, Aussie batsman Nathan Ellis’ shot hit field umpire Virendar Sharma’s body and created controversy.

The incident happened when the Aussies needed nine runs from two balls to win. Nathan Ellis’ shot in Arshadeep’s over hit the umpire’s body. The umpire, seeing the ball hitting Arshadeep’s hand and coming towards him, stayed away but took it with his body. The commentators opined that if the ball was not on Sharma’s body, he would have crossed the boundary.

Former Aussie Matthew Hayden reacted strongly to the incident while skipper Matthew Wide was furious. Hayden, who was giving the commentary, responded by mentioning that the noball was not allowed in the first place. The umpire did his job for the second time in this over. It’s on the front, no square. They’re colluding,’ Hayden said.

Earlier, the square leg umpire did not call a noball despite the first ball of the over going over Matthew Wide’s head. Then Wade expressed his unhappiness. Still, Hayden responded. ‘See why he is unhappy. Of course it is wide. Over the head. He was spot on,’ Hayden said. Matthew Hayden’s remarks were criticized by many on social media. One wrote that it was pathetic.

Batting first on Sunday, India set a target of 161 runs for the loss of eight wickets. But Australia scored only 154 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Mukesh Kumar who took three wickets, Arshadeep Singh who took two wickets each, Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel who took one wicket helped India to win.
