Mumbai: Indian women missed the chance to save face by winning at least one match in the ODI series once morest Australia. India suffered a huge defeat of 190 runs. Australia won the toss and batted first and scored 338 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Batting in reply, India added 148 runs in 32.4 overs and everyone returned.
After losing the first two matches and giving up the series, Ambe collapsed in the third match. With this, Australia swept the series (3-0). Openers Yastika Bhatia (six off 14 balls) and Smriti Mandana (29 off 29 balls) were the first to return. Wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh also took a wicket with 19 runs off 29 balls. For Australia, Georgia Wareham took three wickets, Alana King, Annabelle Sutherland, Meghan Scott took two wickets and Ashley Gardner took one wicket. For India, Shreyanka Patil took three wickets, Amanjot Kaur two, Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar took wickets each.
Australia opener Phoebe Litchfield, who won the toss and went into bat, scored 338 runs in 50 overs on the strength of Phoebe Litchfield’s century (119 off 125 balls). Seven wickets were lost. This is the highest score conceded by Indian women to Australia. Openers Lichfield and captain Alyssa Healy laid a solid foundation. Alyssa Healy (82 off 85 balls) was Australia’s first loss when the score was 189. Pooja Vastrakar got the wicket. After that, Amanjot Kaur trapped Ellis Perry in front of the wicket who scored 16 runs off nine balls. Annabel Sutherland who scored 23 runs from 21 balls was also returned by Amanjot Kaur. Harmanpreet was caught back.
Beth Mooney, who scored three runs from ten balls, Tahlia McGrath, who returned without taking any runs, and Ashley Gardner, who scored 30 runs from 27 balls, were returned by Shreyanka Patil. Lichfield, who scored a century, fell to fifth place. Deepti Sharma got the wicket. This is Deepti’s 100th wicket in ODI cricket.
