Indore: India won by six wickets in the second match of the Twenty20 cricket series once morest Afghanistan.
Batting first, the Afghan scored 172 runs at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. India batted in reply and scored the winning run with 26 balls to spare. Shivam Dubey (63 in 32 balls including four sixes and five fours) and Rinku Singh (nine in nine balls) scored the winning runs. India went on to clinch the three-match Twenty20 series 2-0. Skipper Rohit Sharma (0) was dismissed in the first over bowled by Fazlhaq Farooqui. Rohit might not score runs in the first match as well. Opener Yashaswi Jaiswal (68 off 34 balls including six sixes and five fours) and Virat Kohli (29 off 16 balls) brought India to safety. 50 runs off 25 balls with the second wicket stand. The partnership fell apart following Naveen-ul-Haq handed Kohli to skipper Ibrahim Zadran. Then Jaiswal and Dubey came together. India reached 100 in the 10th over. The third wicket stand crossed 50 off 25 balls. Jaiswal scored a half-century off 27 balls and Dubey on 22 balls. Soon following the score crossed 150, Jaiswal was caught by Karim Jannat wicketkeeper Rahmatullah Gurbaz. Wicket keeper batsman Jitesh Sharma (0) was also dismissed in the same over. Jitesh was captured by Prophet Muhammad.
Karim Jannat took two wickets for Afghanistan. Fazlhaq Farooqui and Naveen ul Haq took one wicket each. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and allowed Afghanistan to bat first. Gulbadin Naib (57 including four sixes and five fours in 35 balls) became the top scorer on the run-flowing pitch at Holkar. Najeebullah Zadran (23 off 21 balls with two sixes and one four), Karim Jannat (20 off 10 balls with one six and two fours) and Mujeeb ur Rahman (21 off nine balls with two sixes and two fours) also led Afghanistan to a good score. Arshadeep Singh conceded 32 runs and took three wickets for India. Ravi Bishnoi conceded 39 runs in four overs and Akshar Patel conceded 17 runs in four overs and took two wickets each. One wicket for Shivam Dubey.
