India to increase military capabilities; Air Force to acquire 114 fighter jets – India fighter jets

New Delhi: The Indian Air Force is all set to acquire 114 fighter jets. Of these, 96 are being manufactured in India as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat project. It was also decided to buy 18 aircraft from abroad. These are being acquired as part of the ‘Buy Global and Make in India’ initiative.

The warplanes will be paid half in Indian currency and the rest in foreign currency. Indian companies will be given more responsibility for the construction of 60 warplanes. These can only be spent in Indian currency. The Ministry of Defense hopes that this will ensure 60 per cent Make in India in the project.

Leading international companies such as Boeing, Mig, Irkut Corporation and Dassault Aviation are expected to participate in the tender process. India claims that more warplanes are needed to counter the threat posed by China and Pakistan.
