New Delhi: Union Minister Anurag Thakur has said that India will host the 2036 Olympics. He asked why India cannot be in the news in every sector from manufacturing to services. The minister added that India is considering the matter seriously.
The next three Olympics will be held in Paris, Los Angeles and Brisbane. The International Olympic Committee recently announced that it is in preliminary talks with 10 cities regarding the 2036 Olympics.
Indonesia, South Korea and Qatar have already expressed their interest in the 2036 Olympics. Earlier there were reports that Germany is also considering the matter.
The minister said that he will talk to the Indian Olympic Association regarding India’s hosting and prepare the outline before the international association meeting next year.
The country has previously hosted the 1951, 1982 Asian Games and the 2010 Commonwealth Games. All three were in New Delhi.
However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Gujarat will be presented as the Olympic venue, Thakur said.
