Vedanta Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the US Department of State, has said that the Indian government should ensure the safety of life and property of all ethnic and religious minorities.

During a press briefing in Washington, he condemned the rape of women in the Indian state of Manipur and demanded that the Indian government ensure the safety of the lives and property of all ethnic and religious minorities.

The spokesperson of the US State Department expressed solidarity with the affected women and said that it is the responsibility of the government to maintain the respect and dignity of women and ensure their safety.

During the briefing, Vedant Patel informed the media about the telephonic conversation of the American Foreign Minister Antony Blanken with his Pakistani counterpart Bilawal Bhutto.

He said that the two leaders reviewed progress on technical and developmental initiatives while reiterating their commitment to partnership in a telephonic conversation.

The spokesperson of the US Department of State said that Antony Blanken and Bilawal Bhutto discussed several issues of mutual interest including stability in Afghanistan.

The spokesperson said that we continue to express the freedom of the press to all stakeholders including the authorities in Pakistan, free press and informed citizens are key for any nation.

The Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the US Department of State said that there is no plan for any US official to visit Afghanistan, condemning the human rights violations and the treatment of women and girls in Afghanistan.

He also said that for international recognition, the Taliban must choose these actions and policies, which he said, the United States is watching carefully and will take action as needed.
