New Delhi: India to send a record team of 634 athletes to the Hangzhou Asian Games. 634 athletes have been cleared by the Union Sports Ministry to participate in the Games. India sent 572 athletes to the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. The Indian Olympic Association has nominated 850 athletes for the Hangzhou Asian Games starting on September 23.
65 athletes including 34 male and 31 female athletes are competing in the track and field event. The list of players to compete in 38 events is ready. 44 football players including 22 male and female players will travel for the Games.
In hockey, there are 36 players including 18 male and female players. The group of cricketers is 15 each. Both men’s and women’s teams compete. The shooting team consists of 30 people. A team of 33 will compete in sailing.
The ministry has not sanctioned any male athlete in weightlifting, gymnastics, handball and rugby.
