India – The Indian Space Studies Organization (ISRO) is counting on that all Indian space missions that will be launched following 2030 will be environmentally friendly and will not leave space waste.
The Indian Space Foundation calls on other countries to move forward on this path. This was announced by the Foundation’s Chairman, Shridekhara Pankir Somnakh, who said that this ISRO initiative aims to make all space missions launched by government and private institutions create zero space waste by 2030. India invites other national and private space agencies to join this initiative in order to preserve space waste. Long-term stability in cosmic space.
In a speech he delivered at a meeting of the Space Waste Coordination Committee in Bangalore, Shridekhara Bankir Somnakh stressed the necessity of making the Earth’s orbit at an altitude of up to 400 kilometers free of waste, knowing that this orbit is used by the International Space Station.
“The issue of space waste occupies an important place in our space programme,” said Shridekhara Bankir Somnach. Taking into account our intention to establish our own orbital space station, this orbit, where new space stations will appear, draws our attention. I believe that it is necessary to protect that region in order to ensure the long-term existence of man in cosmic space.”
He pointed out that the Indian Space Corporation is studying international expertise and experiences to make the mission of establishing the space station consistent with internationally agreed upon standards and not increase the dangers of space waste.
It is noteworthy that India is counting on establishing its first space station by 2030.
