According to an operations manager, the boy is unconscious because he does not “respond” to outside requests. “It takes longer than we thought, because there are stones. We used machines during the night,” explained Shyamendra Jayaswal on Wednesday.

I pray that he is rescued safe and sound,” tweeted Shivraj Singh Chauhan, chief minister of the state. Thursday morning, little Tanmay Sahu was still not out of the woods, according to IBC 24.

The father of the victim explained that the child fell into the well while playing near a farm, around 5 p.m. on December 6. “My 12 year old daughter saw him and told me he had fallen down the well. We immediately rushed to the spot. He was breathing and we listened to the noise he was making in the well,” testified Sunil Sahu. In tears at the scene of the tragedy, the father of the little boy urged the population to pray for a happy ending. He also regretted that the rescue took so long but assured not to blame the government.
