India: Avalanche in the mountains of Apharwat kills 2 tourists | Environment

Indian police said 2 Skiers to be Polish citizen were killed and 21 others were rescued following the battle Avalanche at Gulmarg resort in India on February 1st.

According to the above source, avalanches from Apharwat mountain peak 4,390m high in Indian-controlled Kashmir and buried more than 20 people on the mountainside.

Apart from 2 people who are local guides, all the rest are foreigners.

After the incident, the rescue force was quickly dispatched to the scene and rescued 19 foreigners and 2 local guides, while finding the body.

The rescued people are currently being treated at a nearby hospital.

After the avalanche, authorities closed the cable car that took tourists to the Apharwat mountain area.

Gulmarg Resort attracts tens of thousands of visitors and skiers every year.

The area is currently covered with tens of centimeters of snow following several days of continuous snowfall.
