Following the announcement of the mysterious withdrawal, Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the local tax authority was investigating Camila Giorgi against, because everything was not in order with his tax return and he “played a loophole”. But not only him, but also his entire family: his father, mother and two brothers, Leandro and Amadeus, were involved in the case. That is why the investigators believe that Camila Giorgi – who was involved in court proceedings in Vicenza due to a false vaccination case during the coronavirus epidemic – left Europe and moved to the United States with her family, wrote the Spanish sports daily Marca.

Camila Giorgi’s lawyer, Edmund Tomaselli however, he now revealed that the model and tennis player is “in Rome” and cited professional reasons as the reason for his disappearance.

Camila Giorgi did not run away at all, as some claim. His fans have always followed him through his Instagram page, he was never unreachable. He never wanted to be found.

This would not be the first case for the Giorgi family with the authorities. Ten years ago, the athlete and her father were accused of asking sponsors for money with the promise that they would pay it back if the girl’s career started. However, this did not happen, i.e. the repayment, because the tennis career developed quite well in the meantime. The father, on the other hand, interpreted what happened then in a completely different way, according to him, others tried to profit from his daughter’s successes.

Giorgi did not inform his more than half a million followers about the news about his retirement, but the news spread from the press. Moreover, on May 7, his name appeared on the page of the organization responsible for the purity of the sport (International Tennis Integrity Agency, ITIA) among retired athletes. However, he himself later confirmed the news in his Instagram post.

I am happy to officially announce my retirement from tennis. I am grateful for your wonderful love and support over the years. I am grateful for all the good memories.

Giorgi has won four tournaments in his career, reaching his best result at a Grand Slam tournament in 2018, at Wimbledon, with his appearance in the quarterfinals. His best position in the world rankings was 26th. At the same time, he often returned to the modeling world and had business relationships with well-known brands.

Corriere della Sera previously reported that Camila Giorgi failed to pay six months’ rent for the use of a house in Calenzano, near Florence, from which she also took “about 100,000 euros worth” of antique furniture. The owner of the villa revealed details in the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, saying: “Half of the furniture was taken from their house.” Among them were Persian carpets, and among the elegant furniture was a half-ton antique table. The owner estimated the damage to be between 50,000 and 100,000 euros.
