Endi Kiss: From Hooligans to Family Man
By Your Friendly Neighborhood Comedian
Let’s journey through time, shall we? Picture the nineties—those glorious days when rock ‘n’ roll was booming, and drummers weren’t just for keeping time; they were legends in the making. Enter Endi Kiss, former drummer of the Hooligans, who’s traded in the wild life of non-stop touring for a calm existence—sort of like switching out a roaring lion for a well-fed house cat. Nowadays, instead of thrashing out riffs, he’s more likely to be found keeping up with his four daughters and the delightful chaos they bring. Talk about a rock star transformation!
But let’s not get too cozy yet; there’s a cheeky story lurking in the background. Endi recalls a legendary mishap on the road. “We left for a performance back in the nineties, only to find ourselves greeted not by fans, but by a flock of sheep in a desert. Turns out, it was a fake event.” Now, if that doesn’t belong in a rock memoir, I don’t know what does! Can you imagine stepping out of the tour bus, expecting a throng of adoring fans, but instead getting a bleating audience? Talk about a ‘baa-d’ gig!
As if being mistaken for a shepherd wasn’t enough, Endi’s memories don’t stop there. He recalls those heady days when the band would play in three different cities in a single day. They were like rock ‘n’ roll postal workers, delivering beat after beat while wondering, “Where the heck are we?” If there were a competition for the most disoriented band on tour, the Hooligans would undoubtedly win… as long as they could remember the name of the city they were in! The rock and roll life he reminisces about seems utterly chaotic, and yet, strangely romantic. Ah, the nostalgia!
Now, there’s a serious note here amid all the comedic hijinks—Endi misses the camaraderie of those days. Festivals were not just a chance to play; they were a melting pot of personalities, where bands mingled like old friends. Fast forward to today, and it’s all a bit “worn out,” as he puts it. Are today’s festivals devoid of that sparkle—the essence that made them exhilarating? Where’s the spark of spontaneity? Sure, you can recreate the wild events of yesteryear with VR goggles and a good playlist, but can you summon the sheep? No, no you can’t!
A Hooligans according to his drummer, the world has changed a lot around him.
Endi Kiss now lives a much calmer life as a family man than when he Hooligans he toured the country non-stop as a drummer. The 54-year-old musician is a real father of daughters, as a total of four daughters brighten up his everyday life, the youngest of whom, Alba, was born last year. This time, he brought to life an unusual story, when they had a surprising experience with a rock band.
“We left for a performance back in the nineties, and when we arrived at the agreed location, instead of a festival, we were greeted by a desert, and instead of people, sheep. It turned out afterwards that it was a fake event, that’s why no one was there” – cites the words of Endi of Story Kiss, who laughs at the story from the perspective of so many years, but still looks back a little at the golden age of tours.
During the peak period, it also happened that we played concerts in three different cities in one day. It was amazing, sometimes we weren’t even sure which city we were in, so the rock and roll feeling of life does exist. I miss those days when we could hang out with our colleagues at a festival before the performance, there was time and space to hang out with other bands. These are now worn out.” he declared.
Rock star can trade in his guitar for a pacifier. And who knows? Maybe the rhythm of fatherhood has a beat all its own! With a new little one joining his family, Endi proves that the journey of life is a beautiful encore—whether it’s on stage or in the comfort of home.

**Interview with Endi Kiss**
**Interviewer:** Endi, congratulations on becoming a father again at 52! How does it feel to add another member to your family?
**Endi Kiss:** Thank you! It’s an incredible feeling, and honestly, it’s a bit surreal. Just when you think life has settled into a routine, it throws you a curveball in the form of a newborn.
**Interviewer:** You’ve traded the roaring crowd for the sounds of baby babble. How does that transition feel?
**Endi Kiss:** It’s quite the adjustment, let me tell you! The adrenaline rush of performing is unlike anything else, but the joy of holding my newborn and watching my other daughters interact with their new sibling is a kind of happiness that I never could’ve imagined.
**Interviewer:** Looking back at your time with the Hooligans, do you miss the wild rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle?
**Endi Kiss:** In some ways, yes. The camaraderie with my bandmates, the spontaneity of festivals—those were special moments. But I love this part of my life too. Every late-night diaper change is a new song waiting to be sung in the symphony of family life.
**Interviewer:** You mentioned a hilarious road mishap with sheep. Have you had any moments like that in your new life as a dad?
**Endi Kiss:** Oh, for sure! Just the other day, I was knee-deep in play dough and the girls decided that having a ”spaghetti dinner” meant throwing spaghetti on the carpet instead. You adapt! Just like on tour, you have to go with the flow and laugh through the chaos.
**Interviewer:** One last question, Endi—what’s your advice for fellow parents who might feel overwhelmed?
**Endi Kiss:** Remember, every great band started with a single note. Just take it one day at a time, embrace the chaos, and don’t forget to find joy in the little things. The world may be different now, but the rhythm of life continues—just in a different melody!
**Interviewer:** Wise words! Thank you for taking the time to chat, Endi, and enjoy this beautiful new chapter in your life!
