Index – Interior – István Tarlós: The relationship between the government and the capital can improve because of Péter Magyar

István Tarlós is the Index Specifically with Egon Rónai in his program, he first highlighted that he lived in Óbuda all his life, was a former mayor, then mayor, the capital is very close to him, and because of this it is difficult for him not to follow the events.

Regarding the flood protection measures on the Római coast, István Tarlós noted that they completed the Pünkösdfürdő seawall, and they also designed and started building the seawall on the left bank of the Aranyhegyi stream, but Gergely Karácsony had already finished it.

The former mayor added that they also negotiated with the Barát stream and carried out minor works, including the repair of the ruined parapet walls at the Buda bridgehead of the Árpád bridge and the removal of the open flood gate at the Erzsébet bridge. István Tarlós said that they also started the main seawall on the Római coast, in connection with which he highlighted that, in his opinion, the mobile dams have been tested excellently in Visegrád, among others, but this was opposed by the Greens, and according to him, it is a problem that the wave field is called a floodplain, but the definition of the coast also called it problematic. As he says, they never wanted to build a defense on the coast.

he stated that he would still stand by the defense structure, which was not built, and then added that Gáborék Demszky also thought about the coastal strip, and also imagined the development of the defense structure here.

The former mayor continued by saying that the rabbit dam on the Római coast became a first-rate defense line sometime in 1979, but it is a temporary protection structure that has no foundation and still does not have a permit for use. According to him, what is called a wave field here has been built continuously for 110 years, but the building authority did not issue the building permits irregularly. He noted that at some point a ban on change could have been envisioned, but that did not happen.

István Tarlós emphasized that this area was close to his heart, and he wanted to be part of it. He added that he has six expert opinions, which describe that the seawall must be built on the shore, and that Gergely Karácsony is responsible for the fact that it was “drilled”, moreover, the mayor cannot judge all of this professionally.

Renovation of the Chain Bridge

Egon Rónai said that the government had a promise of HUF 6 billion for the renovation of the Chain Bridge, which it later attached conditions to, and then canceled the amount with a government decree last week. In this regard, the presenter asked István Tarlós whether he thought it was okay.

The former mayor said that if this were really true in this form, it would not be right, but according to him, it did not happen that way, and it is actually a lie. István Tarlós stated that he was bound by conditions not during the time of Gergely Karácsony, but during his time, since, as he said, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told him personally that they would receive this HUF 6 billion if the bridge was handed over in its original condition within 18 months. traffic.

Gergely Karácsony’s leadership could have said many things as to why the investment was delayed, but what it finally said was stupid, according to István Tarlós, and there is no excuse for why it was delayed for a year and a half. He added that, in his opinion, based on the agreement with the government, the capital did not rightfully demand HUF 6 billion.

Was the mayoral election a puppet show?

Egon Rónai noted that István Tarlós revealed earlier in a program that he had cast his vote for András Grundtner, the representative of Mi Hazánk, in the mayoral election in June, and then asked what the reason was.

István Tarlós said that until now the only party he joined was the SZDSZ, but he left it when they formed a coalition with the MSZP. He did not join Fidesz either, but as he said, the ruling party received all of his votes in the June elections, and if the party does not change its policy on issues of fate, he will continue to vote for them.

Returning to his vote in the mayoral election, István Tarlós emphasized that he had no reason to make this decision, as he said, he thinks of Gergely Karácsony that this position was not invented for him, and Dávid Vitézy as deputy mayor in a certain area he considers him suitable, but partly because of his personality and partly because of his one-way preparation, he thinks that he is unfit for the position of mayor. That’s why he voted for Mi Házánk’s candidate.

The campaign

About Alexandra Szentkirályi’s campaign, she said that she thought the president of Fidesz in Budapest was not allowed to run her own campaign, which, according to István Tarlós, resulted in the public forming an image of her that was not really her, and the campaign did not reflect her personality.

The former mayor also said that something was not right for him in this campaign, and he also found it strange that Alexandra Szentkirályi did not say a single bad word about Dávid Vitézy.

According to him, Alexandra Szentkirályi was launched in order to weaken Gergely Karácsony and open up space for Dávid Vitézy. Although he is not certain of this, he says it is hard to imagine that this did not happen. According to him, after the last 5 years, Dávid Vitézy should have easily won the mayor’s election. István Tarlós also added that the dismissal of Alexandra Szentkirályi two days earlier was a mistake, on the one hand because of the administration, and on the other hand because of the people, since it is not possible to think about such a decision in such a short period of time.

The Péter Magyar phenomenon

According to István Tarlós, what Péter Magyar, the president of the Tisza Party, claims that the “old side” and Fidesz are colluding with is “nonsense”. According to him, there is no such connection, and this statement may sound good, but logically and based on strictly taken facts, it does not correspond to reality.

He went on to say that in his opinion, the pro-government media should not treat Péter Magyar the way they do, criticizing him on high-profile issues, among other things, because it “can lead things astray”. He would not be able to trust Péter Magyar because of his personal past, and according to him, he has not proven that he has the skills to lead a country, and he can imagine that Péter Magyar’s popularity will rapidly decrease in the future. He believes that the relationship between the government and Gergely Karácsony will improve, among other things because of the Péter Magyar phenomenon.
