“In mid-March, Media was the first to estimate the support of the then-not-yet-formed party. At that time, 13 percent of the two-thirds of respondents who knew him would most likely have voted for the newly prepared party of the political actor who exploded unexpectedly in February,” says the HVG-n Hann Endre, managing director of Median, wrote in his published article.
At the end of April, however, 16 percent of the full voting age population and 24 percent of the sure voters who can vote say that they would vote for the Tisza Party in the European Parliament elections, which means that Péter Magyar’s party is currently the strongest opposition group.
Median’s survey was conducted on a nationally representative sample between April 26 and 29. Due to the newspaper’s early closure on May 1, it had to be interrupted for 970 people.
The parties are collecting signatures at full steam
According to the survey
- Fidesz is among the sure voters who can choose 46,
- The Tisza Party 24,
- the Democratic Coalition 9,
- the Hungarian Two-Tailed Dog Party 6,
- and Momentum stands at 5 percent.
- The Mi Hazánk Movement received 6 percent in this round,
- and the Everyone’s Hungary Movement achieved 1 percent.
Tamás Menczer, Fidesz’s communications director, announced last week that they were the first to submit the 20,000 signatures required for the European Parliament elections to the National Election Office (NVI). After Fidesz-KDNP, Mi Hazánk was the second – and the first among the opposition parties – to collect the recommendation necessary to run in the European Parliament elections. They can claim double the necessary 20,000, of which 30,000 have been handed over to the National Election Office.
The Democratic Coalition and the LMP have also indicated that they will collect the necessary signatures for the launch in time. They are continuing their signature collection campaign. On April 30, it was officially published on the NVI website that the EP lists of the Tisza Party and the Hungarian Two-Tailed Dog Party were also registered.
Péter Magyar announced at the beginning of April that he had submitted the application for registration of the Tisza Party to the National Election Commission. We have already written regarding the fact that, according to our information, Péter Magyar and his party, the Tisza Party, want to run not only in the European Parliament but also in the municipal elections. In several districts of Budapest, they would launch their own mayoral candidates in order to be able to establish a capital list. Legally, they have every opportunity to do so, because the recommendation collection period is still ongoing.
According to our information, the Péter Magyars have taken several scenarios into consideration in the recent period. In the end, they rejected the idea of joining the fight for the post of mayor, so instead they run their own mayoral candidates in three districts in order to meet the conditions necessary for the list, you can read more regarding it here.
