The Csiky Gergely Theater in Kaposvár considers the actor György Hunyadkürti as its own dead, whose funeral will be arranged later.
György Hunyadkürti was born on April 16, 1951 in Csorvás. He started his career at the Minerva Theater in Békéscsaba, signed a contract with the Déryné State Theater in 1972, and was a member of the Csiky Gergely Theater troupe since 1975.
He willingly undertook independent literary evenings, Are you asking?! – Thought Contest his production titled “The Last Supper” was presented on the studio stage of the Kaposvár theater, and as an excellent performer he won several prizes in recitation competitions.
The actor was also remembered by Károly Szita, the mayor of Kaposvár on Facebook.
Last time we talked regarding going and seeing you on stage once more, as I have done so many times…Hunya has been a member of the Csiky troupe since 1975, and will remain so forever! God be with you, my friend! I’ll miss you a lot!
In 2006, he was awarded the first prize of the national recitation competition organized by the Versünnep Foundation, Magyar Rádió and Duna television, and a year later the professional main prize of the Versünnep recitation competition.
Like his brother, István Hunyadkürti, he was also discovered by the film industry: he played in We never die (1993), a József and his brothers – Scenes from a peasant Bible (2003) and among others a Workshop (2003) in the works.
His work and performance as an actor have been awarded several times: in 2004 he received the Aase award, established to recognize theater episodic actors, in 2005 the Jászai Mari award, in 2006 the golden ring for Kaposvár, in 2014 he became a worthy artist, and in 2022 he became an excellent artist.
