IND vs SL | ‘Hitman’ Rohit Sharma; The bridge of the fan’s nose was broken in the Indian captain’s sixes

Bangalore: On the first day of the second Test (IND vs SL, 2nd Test) once morest Sri Lanka, India captain Rohit Sharma’s six hit his body and injured a fan. Rohit’s six ‘worked’ by a fan who came to watch the Pink Ball Test between India and Sri Lanka at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Gaurav Vikas Parwar, 22, was injured when he tried to catch a ball that bounced off Rohit’s gallery with a pull shot. He was admitted to the hospital.

Doctors confirmed that the bridge of Gaurav’s nose was broken by the ball. He also sustained other injuries to his bridge of the nose. He was rushed to a hospital where he was treated and discharged. He has been advised to rest for a week.

The incident happened in the sixth over of the Indian innings on the first day of the Test. The last ball of the over was bowled by Sri Lankan bowler Vishwa Fernando and Rohit crossed the boundary with a beautiful pull shot. Though he started well, the Indian captain might not stay at the crease for long. Rohit scored just 15 off 25 balls with four fours and six sixes. Shreyas Iyer’s 92 helped India win the toss and elect to bat. Iyer’s performance helped India reach 252 in the first innings.

In reply, Sri Lanka were all out for 109. They started the second day at 86 for six, adding just 23 runs for the loss of the remaining four wickets. This gave India a 143-run lead in the first innings. Rohit and his team will be batting once more in the second day’s and will be looking to put Sri Lanka ahead with an unbeaten run.

Angelo Mathews is Sri Lanka’s top scorer with 43 runs. Bumra took five wickets for India. Mohammad Shami and Ashwin took two wickets each while Akshar Patel took one wicket.

India, who won the first match of the two-match series, are aiming to win the match and sweep the Test series.
