Last October, Health Canada agreed to provide Emmy with Tazemetostat through Health Canada’s Special Access Program, as the drug is not marketed in Canada.
This decision by Health Canada came following Independent Member of Parliament for Richmond-Arthabaska Alain Rayes and Federal Minister of Health Jean-Yves Duclos agreed to help Emmy and her family in their efforts.
“Emmy’s fight was not in vain as other patients had access to the same drug following her when it was not possible before. She cleared the land for Canadians, she is an example of courage and resilience. I am shocked to hear of his passing and offer my condolences to his family,” said MP Rayes.
