A medical team at Al Tadawi Hospital in Dubai, in cooperation with a staff from the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, managed to save the life of a young patient whose heart stopped completely for more than 22 minutes.

The (Dubai Ambulance) team received a report that the patient (Muhammad M.), who is 29 years old, had fainted completely, and within minutes the ambulance team arrived, and following examining him, it was found that he had a heart attack, so first aid was administered to him while he was transferred to the emergency department of the Medication Hospital.

Immediately upon his arrival at the hospital and examinations were conducted, it was found that he had severe pulmonary embolism, which led to a complete cardiac arrest and severe respiratory failure, so rapid cardiac resuscitation was performed with repeated electric shocks until he regained his pulse.

Within minutes, the patient was admitted to the operating room and an urgent cardiac catheterization was performed, with clot solvents given to him, and he was placed in intensive care under a ventilator.

Dr. Salman Uday, head of the cardiology department and consultant interventional cardiologist at the hospital, said that the patient’s condition was very critical, and the death rate was very high due to weak heart muscle and respiratory failure, which required rapid medical intervention to save his life and restore the pulse, so the medical staff performed a heart and pulmonary catheterization operation in the hospital. Then the patient was transferred to intensive care under full medical supervision, and placed under a ventilator, until his condition stabilized and he regained consciousness.

He added, “During the treatment, it was found that the patient had severe infections and bacteremia, so his condition was treated with the necessary antibiotics, until his condition improved, and normal breathing returned.”

The doctor continued, the patient’s condition improved completely, recovered, was discharged from the hospital, and returned home in a stable condition.

For his part, Marwan Haji Nasser, Chairman and CEO of Al Tadawi Group for Healthcare, said that the condition of the patient, Muhammad, was complex and required intensive and urgent medical intervention from emergency, heart and chest doctors, in addition to medical care with the latest medical equipment and technologies in Al Tadawi Hospital.
