“I denounce the lack of transparency and the manipulative behavior of the European Union in the preparation of the III CELAC-EU Summit, which seriously jeopardize the success of the meeting. There is little time left, but it is still not too late to avoid a failure. “, the chancellor posted on Twitter.

Rodríguez Parrilla assured that Cuba will attend the event “with a constructive spirit” and “will contribute as much as possible to strengthen, on the basis of equality and mutual respect, dialogue and cooperation” between the two parties.

The head of Cuban diplomacy recalled that the leaders of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European Union they will meet for the first time in eight years.

“There is an attempt to impose restrictive and divisive formats that would make direct and transparent discussions impossible, and the content of the debates is hidden from the press and public opinion. Forums parallel to the Summit are unilaterally organized,” the high-ranking Cuban diplomat declared in a video attached to the post.

The European part, pointed out Rodríguez Parrilla, decides on its own who will be the representatives of the CELAC region in these events.

These activities of the community bloc also jeopardize the possibility of reaching final agreements at the Summit, he noted.

“CELAC is the solid and united voice of Latin America and the Caribbean and must be respected. There will be no chance of success in Brussels for those who try to impose a biased and Europeanist vision on the bi-regional relationship, pretending to ignore the priorities and interests of our region”, confirmed the Cuban foreign minister.
