Opportunities for companies to connect American industrial and energy groups

More and more American industrial and energy groups are coming to Vietnam in search of cooperation partners, which constitutes an excellent opportunity for Vietnamese companies to become a link in their supply chain.

This is the estimate given by experts at the Vietnam – United States Business Forum entitled “Strengthening ties with American industrial and energy groups”, organized on September 13 in Ho Chi Minh City by the Ministry of Industry and of Commerce, in coordination with the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Do Thang Hai, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, during the 30 years of normalization of relations between the United States and Vietnam, bilateral cooperation has achieved strong and substantial progress in many areas. In the economic field, trade between the two countries has experienced significant developments.

Vietnamese exports

However, Vietnam’s exports to the United States declined in the first months of the year. However, Vietnam’s traditional and heavily exported products such as textiles, furniture, shoes, electronics… will continue to recover with a positive growth rate in the future.

Elevating bilateral relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership will foster new areas of cooperation so that Vietnam can truly be present in global value chains and promote the participation of Vietnamese companies in the field of raw material supply and components for the energy industry, aviation, digital economy, semiconductor ecosystem, artificial intelligence application.

John Rockhold, president of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Vietnam and president of AmCham Hanoi, said that American energy companies choose Vietnam as an investment destination because of the possibility of accessing electricity to from solar energy and a huge amount of regeneration. Vietnamese companies can fully participate in the supply chain, which extends from shipyards and steel foundries to necessary service providers, in support of the offshore wind industry.

Maxime Dourdan, Boeing Supply Chain Development Director for Southeast Asia, Japan and the Republic of Korea, highly appreciated the potential and important position of the Vietnamese market for Boeing’s business strategy as well as its opportunities for cooperation with national companies. In the coming time, Boeing will focus on three main directions: deepening business relations in the aviation sector with Vietnamese airlines; cooperation in specific areas such as helicopters and transport; investment in the development of the aeronautical spare parts and equipment supply chain in Vietnam.
