Outstanding bank credit reached 1,059.9 billion dirhams (MMDH) at the end of December 2022, an annual increase of 7.6%, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).
The outstanding amount of bank credit to non-financial agents amounted to 909.4 billion dirhams (+8%) and that to financial agents to 150.5 billion dirhams (+5.3%), specifies BAM in its dashboard ” bank credits and deposits” for the month of December 2022.
The annual increase of 10.9% to 449.4 billion dirhams in loans to private non-financial enterprises (NFEs) is mainly due to the 14.6% increase in cash facilities and the 8.2% increase in loans to ‘equipment. On the other hand, home loans fell by 3.5% to 51.6 billion dirhams.
In addition, BAM recalls that according to the survey on credit conditions for Q4-2022, the criteria would have been relaxed for cash facilities, kept unchanged for equipment loans and tightened for loans. to real estate development. By business size, they would have been kept unchanged for VSMEs and LEs. As for demand, it appears to have stagnated for GEs and decreased for VSMEs. By object of credit, it would have decreased for cash loans and stagnated for those for equipment and increased for loans for property development.
As for the rates applied to new loans in Q4-2022, they increased to 4.40%. By company size, they stood at 4.19% for LEs and 5.04% for VSMEs.
In addition, the Central Bank reported that loans to households recorded an annual increase of 3.5%, covering increases of 2.7% in housing loans and 4% in consumer loans. Crowdfunding for housing, in particular in the form of real estate Murabaha, continued to grow, reaching 18.8 billion dirhams, following 15.9 billion dirhams a year earlier.
