With the approach of the opening of the tax return scheduled for mid-April, the tax administration has published the new scales for calculating fuel costs. And this is good news for taxpayers who opt for this declaration solution since the amounts have been increased by 30% per kilometer for diesel and around 16% for super unleaded.
When declaring their income, some employees who use their personal car for work will indicate their “actual” expenses. This calculation includes fuel costs. The tax authorities have just published the new scales of these costs, up 30% per kilometer for diesel and around 16% for super unleaded, but down for LPG, relay our colleagues from

.
Keep all the supporting documents in the event of an inspection
As a reminder, the declaration of actual expenses can be an interesting option in certain cases for employees.
“If you have all the supporting documents (invoices, receipts, etc.), you can deduct the actual amount of your expenses relating to the professional use of the vehicle
specifies Bercy.
The deductible costs include the depreciation of the vehicle during the year, the costs of maintenance, fuel, repairs, insurance, parking… for their fraction relating to the mileage traveled in a professional capacity”
.
The other solution, the simplest, is to use the scale of mileage costs published by the tax authorities. However, the latter has not yet been communicated for the 2023 tax return.
A basic deduction also possible
The latter varies according to the type of vehicle, its power and the distance travelled. The scale takes into account the depreciation of the vehicle, the cost of purchasing helmets and protection, the cost of repairs and maintenance, the cost of tires, fuel consumption and insurance premiums.
Finally, some employees will be satisfied with the flat-rate deduction of 10% of the amount of your declared salary to cover your professional expenses for the past year.
