Income increases and three-year plan 2024-09-03 11:50:10

The prime minister’s main message is expected to be that the government is implementing a specific program that moves Greece forward, in contrast to the opposition parties who are in their inner party microcosm. A plan costed step by step, not only for 2025, but also until 2027.

This year’s TIF will be the “new starting point”, with the main objectives being the continuous strengthening of income, the support of the family and the possibility of acquiring housing, as well as the modernization of entrepreneurship, in order to strengthen growth and further reduce unemployment. Regarding, for example, new entrepreneurship, incentives and tax exemptions will be given for business mergers and Golden Visa not for real estate, but for start-ups and pioneering companies.

According to sources from M. Maximou, it will be a completely structured and documented speech, which is not inspired by the legend of Santa Claus, but will provide concrete support to the most vulnerable, a boost to the middle class and a grounded perspective on the country and the everyday life of the citizens.

The story of K. Mitsotakis, as his interlocutors emphasize, “will not be on the air”. It will build on the events of the first four-year period and the first year of the second four-year period (48% of the 2023 election program has already been implemented) and will be directly connected to the next 3-year period.

The program for 2025 will be connected to what was done during the previous 4+1 years, but also to the program for 2026, which will lead to the completion of the plan in 2027, which will also be the year of the next elections . This plan also concerns the completion of the strengthening of Health infrastructure (renovations of hospitals and completion of new ones), transport, Education, security and digital governance.

For the exact determination of the support measures for 2025, the prime minister and his staff also took into account the difficulty of the situation. On the one hand, the 3% limit also applies to Greece, and on the other hand, large European countries, such as France and Italy, are bound by the excessive deficit clauses. The government does not want to slip back into this regime, in order to maintain the freedom to exercise its social policy in freer conditions. An important element is also that from 2025 the repayment of the Bell@ra frigates begins, which means 900 million euros per year.

Also taken into account is the fact that inflation and accuracy have begun to de-escalate. The number 1 problem of the citizens has certainly not been solved, but, as M. Maximou estimates, with the new measures taken and will be taken by the Ministry of Development, it has entered the tracks of resolution.

The aim of the prime minister is to show, without populism and money trees, that he knows exactly where he is going, but also with what specific and costed steps-measures, so that in 2027 the Greek economy and society will have risen to a level, with strengthened income, lower taxation and stronger social state.

At the heart of the government’s plan is the great reform opportunity that opens up for the country with the revision of the Constitution. The relevant debate begins, based on the constitutional deadlines, in 2026, however K. Mitsotakis is expected to make a statement – probably at the press conference he will give – which will show that he perceives the revision as a crucial “reform lever”. Anticipating that the proposals submitted by the government will be sufficient and will constitute intersections for the modernization of the state, beyond private universities and the postal vote not only for emigrants.

K. Mitsotakis has chosen to highlight the work of his governments, but also the program of the next clear three years and not the confrontation with the faltering opposition. That is why the directive given to the MPs and executives of the N.D. it is “no comment” on what is happening mainly in SYRIZA, but also in PASOK.

TO INCREASE LIMIT FROM 3% TO 5%

Recommendations on the electoral law

According to information, the prime minister, who has accepted proposals to change the electoral law, increasing the limit of 3% to 5% and therefore reducing the percentage required for self-reliance, does not intend to change his fixed position for stability in rules and avoiding gimmicks.

As a certainty, it is also alleged that the issue of the President of the Republic will not be opened from now on. The relevant discussion will begin at the end of the year or at the beginning of 2025, i.e. in a short and reasonable time before the end of K. Sakellaropoulou’s term.
