In view of the general elections to be held in Pakistan on February 8, 2024, the need to include the aspirations of people of all faiths in political representation is getting stronger. Islamabad-Rawalpindi Diocese Archbishop Joseph Arshad has called for the needs of religious minorities to be taken into account in the decisive vote.

Conducting general elections in Pakistan is an important process to promote democracy in the country and all political leaders should work together for the prosperity and development of Pakistan. This is the beauty of democracy, he added.

All political parties are called upon to include the theme of protecting the rights and welfare of minorities in their political program. It is a historical fact that since the independence of Pakistan in 1947, non-Muslim citizens have played an important role in the development, prosperity, economic, social and cultural prosperity of Pakistan.

In an important meeting with prominent Islamic scholars of various schools of thought, they unanimously condemned extremism and sectarianism and declared their support for efforts to bring tolerance, peace and stability in the country.

The meeting condemned the propaganda of terrorism and intolerance promoted by extremist Muslim groups. The current political uncertainty is pushing the common man into a serious state of economic instability.
