Al-Marsad Newspaper: The National Center for Wildlife Development revealed the wild creatures that have finally become extinct in Saudi Arabia.
The center explained that these creatures are the Arabian lion, the Arabian ostrich, the cheetah, and the Saudi gazelle.
For his part, Hamza Al-Ghamdi, who is interested in wildlife and spokesperson for the “Rahma” Association for Animal Welfare, said, “The Saudi gazelle has become extinct, and it is an independent species that bears this name, and its extinction was officially announced in 2008 AD, with little hope that the existence of the remnants of the breed will be discovered by anyone.” educators or in one of the remote places, according to Al-Arabiya.
He added, “The cheetah, the Arabian hunter, is the fastest mammal that became extinct regarding fifty years ago. It is a unique type of feline, characterized by high agility. Princes and kings used to train it to hunt on their trips and assign it a specialized trainer to tame and train it, influenced by the Persian culture at the time.”
Al-Ghamdi continued, explaining: “The Arab lion, which was sung by Arab poets, became extinct in Saudi Arabia more than 100 years ago, and it is similar to the Asian lion, but it is smaller in size than the rest of the lions. Where she lived in the reefs and sandy areas, and she found many ancient eggshells of the Arabian ostrich in the sands of the Empty Quarter, the Nafud Desert, and other places.
