Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)–Did you know that you shouldn’t wash chicken because it spreads bacteria in your kitchen?
For your safety in the kitchen, the official account of the Gulf Health Council, in a tweet, highlighted 6 tips that you can apply.
Here are 6 tips to keep you safe in the kitchen:
- Do not place cooked or ready-to-eat food on the same cutting board as raw food, to prevent taste mixing and the spread of bacteria
- Be careful when using the knife, and point it down when moving from one place to another
- Don’t forget to wash your hands frequently when preparing food
- Do not wash the chicken, as this contributes to the spread of bacteria in the kitchen
- Turn off gas and ovens as soon as you have finished using them
- Do not leave cooked food at room temperature for more than two hours
