Including honey.. foods that should be kept away from your child completely at this age

Nutritionist Rhiannon Lambert shared her experience with some foods that are recommended to be avoided for children at a young age, so as not to have very bad health effects.

Speaking to the British newspaper “The Sun”, Lambert said that salt is at the top of the list of those foods, especially for children between the ages of one and three years.

She also urged parents to avoid added sugar, which can cause tooth decay.

I am also very wary of saturated fats, as they have very negative health effects.

But the nutritionist singled out 3 specific types that parents should avoid:

Honey

Honey should not be given to children under the age of one year, as it can contain certain types of bacteria that are dangerous to children of this age, and it is also a source of sugar, which can cause tooth decay.

dried fruit

Children under the age of five should not snack on dried fruits such as raisins or dried apricots. Like honey, too much of it can cause tooth decay.

Unpasteurized cheese

These types of cheese can put your child at risk of carrying listeria bacteria.

What should young children eat?

Rhiannon had some additional advice for parents about diet for young children.

“Variety is key to developing a healthy relationship with food,” she said. “It is important for a child to be exposed to a variety of foods.”

She added: Children should get three balanced meals a day in addition to regular snacks, such as fruit or vegetables with nut butter or whole grain oatmeal cookies.

She added: “Fortified foods, such as bread or cereal, may also be a beneficial option because they contain added nutrients, such as calcium, iron and vitamin D, that are needed for growth and development.”
