Incidents in the installation of polling stations do not threaten the process

The Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) reported on Friday that less than 1% of incidents occurred during the installation of voting tables for the presidential elections on Sunday, and asked citizens not to be alarmed because – it said – the will of the people can be expressed in the elections.

Delsa Solórzano said in a press conference that “There were less than 1% of incidents at these polling stations. What does this mean? I repeat, nothing more happened because our witnesses were there and because they know how to defend their rights, which are the political rights of all Venezuelans and it is the same thing they are going to do on Sunday.”

In light of this record, the former MP asked the population not to be alarmed and to “vote massively” on Sunday, because the “will of the people” will be expressed at the ballot box.

Solórzano said that although these events are not justified, he insisted that the percentage is “quite low” thanks to the work of the accredited voting witnesses.

“The type of incident was the same, but for us to be able to talk about a pattern there has to be a very high percentage of incidents to be able to say that it was a pattern that significantly affected the number of tables installed,” he said.
