Moscow. July, 12. INTERFAX.RU – In Dzerzhinsk, on the followingnoon of July 12, firefighters were called upon a fire signal in the eastern industrial zone of the city, the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.

“At 14:05, a message was received regarding a fire at the address: Dzerzhinsk, Avtozavodskoye Highway, house 65. Fire and rescue units were sent to the place,” the report says.

Later, the department clarified that no one was injured, people were evacuated from the enterprise, 80 people and 24 pieces of equipment are extinguishing the fire. By 15:15 Moscow time, flaring at the enterprise stopped. “There is a cooling of the production plant. There is no threat of an explosion. There are no victims or injured,” the report says.

As Interfax was told in the press service of SIBUR, “a fire broke out at the production of ethylene oxide and glycols at Sibur-Neftekhim.”

“The forces and means of emergency services are localizing and eliminating the consequences of the incident. Production has been temporarily stopped. The personnel have been evacuated. There is no threat to the life and health of the population. The state of atmospheric air is being monitored,” the company said.

Mayor of Dzerzhinsk Ivan Noskov reported in the telegram channelthat experts on site also took air samples. “So far I can say that the wind direction is western, not on the city. Monitoring of the state of atmospheric air is also carried out by the relevant departments of the enterprise itself,” the mayor wrote.

The production of ethylene oxide and glycols was put into operation in 1982; it has been operating as part of SIBUR-Neftekhim since December 1999.
